🐓 The Rooster Roster!
🥚🐣🐥🐓 birds in a shelter (and out of the 🔥!) near you

Did someone forward you this email? Then, 👇
Welcome to the Rooster Roster! I’m sure you can imagine, but we have a huge list in California this week (and it’s growing, so keep checking your local shelter’s site!). If you’re anywhere near LA, check your local shelters to see if you can help with overflow.
Do you wish we’d change something about this newsletter? Do you like this newsletter? Do you just want to email someone? Reply to this email and give us your feedback! We love to hear from our fellow bird lovers.
Here’s what we have for you this week:
🦚 A Bandit in Vegas looking for bail
🔥 Fire refugees in California
🦢 An honestly named goose in NC
🕺 An Elvis sighting
❤️ Our heartfelt thanks for being with us as we try to find homes for all our feathery friends.
One tip: we highlight birds that are NEW to their shelters, so we recommend also browsing through your local shelter’s adoptable animals to see if you can spot any older hidden gems waiting for you, or even birds pending a stray hold that you could be first in line to see when they become available. Get to know your local shelter’s system and you will have a leg up on adopting the bird of your dreams! 🔎

🥶 It’s Either Freezing, or On Fire. 🔥
There’s a massive Polar Vortex hitting almost the entire country… basically everywhere except California, which is actively on fire. Which means if you’re a backyard bird in North America, you’re going to need some support this week.
Make sure your birds have a dry and draft-free place to hide from the cold. Supplemental heat will probably be necessary for most parts of the country: remember, a huge change in temperature can be just as harsh for an animal as very low temperatures, so support your birds even if your climate is more moderate.
If you’re able to help with some of the overflow of birds in Southern California shelters but aren’t sure where to start, please reply to this email and we’ll do our best to connect you with an organization that needs your help. 🌬️🔥
Did you fall in love with one of these birds today? Send us a photo of your adopted bird for a chance to be featured in a future edition of the Rooster Roster and on our social media pages! 🤳
Remember: If you know someone who’s in the market for a new avian friend, or just loves to look at pictures of birds, forward them this newsletter! If you have suggestions for future newsletter issues, please reply to this email to let us know. Thank you THANK YOU for being a subscriber! 📧
🎥 It may feel like THE END times, but its not so bad when you look for the helpers. ←
